Eco-friendly washing up liquid

Hello and welcome back to our monthly eco-friendly and DIY vegan recipes for you to try at home.

This month Trish will be sharing her recipe for an easy washing up liquid that will not only do a fab job at washing the dishes but it will also save you lots of money too.

This DIY washing up liquid does such a good job at cleaning the dishes, it can even tackle tough burnt on food. The washing up liquid doesn’t bubble up so you wont have a bubbly bowl of suds however it does clean the dishes really well.

Happy washing

I love this recipe and find it much more effective than most expensive commercially bought ones. It does take some getting used though, probably because there are no suds and that’s what were used to seeing and what we believe cleans the dishes. Try it and see what you think, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Ingredients

6 tbsp washing soda

250ml boiling water

250g liquid castile soap

Method

In a large mixing bowl add the washing soda and gradually add the boiling water.

Stir until completely dissolved

Stir the castile soap in gently (be careful not to whisk)

Allow to cool at room temperature

Place in an old washing up liquid bottle or buy a reusable glass bottle.

Gently shake before each use.

Top Tip:

For any particularly greasy oven pans or burnt on food trays, simply wet with water and shake on bicarbonate of soda. Leave to fizz for 5 minutes, wipe off and wash as usual.

I hope you love this recipe, see you next time
