HERBS RULE - GROW YOUR OWN

I love herbs! As a vegan I know how important it is to use herbs in cooking vegan meals to really add flavour. Herbs (and spices) can very easily make a boring meal turn into a flavour sensation.

Eating a plant based diet is still bang on trend and definitely on the rise, I have noticed myself that in just a few years, vegan is now becoming a ‘normal’ part of everyday eating and we are seeing vegan menus and drinks EVERYWHERE, and it’s about time. Yogis and eastern countries have know it all along… a veggie diet is the way forward, but now fitness junkies and people who are just health conscious are also jumping on bored, and I couldn’t be happier.

Like I’ve said, herbs rule. I’ve been growing my own for years now. It’s so simple you just need some pots, sunshine and water. Take the pots indoors for winter and outdoors in the summer.

I buy my herbs from the supermarket or garden centre and plant them in pots, either on their own or simply bung them in with other plants and flowers. Now the weather is getting nicer in the UK I can begin to grow tomatoes, chillies and other easy fruits and veggies.

This is a small view of the herbs that grow all year round, I’ve placed them in the borders of my garden, you can also grow them on the windowsill in your kitchen if you don’t have space outside.

Why not have a go at building your own herb garden and you never know you may get the gardening bug and start to grow a range of fruits and veggies for the whole family to enjoy. You can’t beat picking your own and cooking with them and they taste so much better too.

My tomato plants have now moved outside to live with the herbs. They are just beginning to flower and will soon be filled with juicy baby tomatoes. I’ll keep you posted with my other homegrown produce as they begin to grow.

Let me know if you are growing your own, I love to see and share your photos
