If you’ve never made your own nut butter then this recipe is for you. It’s so simple to make and tastes so much better than shop bought! All you need is a bag of almonds and a high speed blender, the more almonds you use the more nut butter you’ll end up with. I’d recommend starting with about 400g (2 x large pouch bags)

Almonds do take longer to blend than other softer nut such as cashew nuts but if you keep on blending then you’ll end up with a smooth, tasty nut butter, perfect to stir into oats, drizzle on brownies, spread on banana bread or by the spoon! I hope you love this as much as I do.

You can also watch how I made this on my instagram page :)

CAUTION - the nut butter will get extremely HOT whilst blending. If you feel the nut butter is getting too hot then simply allow the mixture to cool for 5-10 minutes before blending it again. Once the nut butter is smooth leave to cool completely before eating.

Ingredients

400g almonds (about 2 x large pouch bags)

Method

  • Roast the almond for 5 minutes in a preheated oven, this helps to warm the almonds for easier blending

  • Add the almonds to a high speed blender and blend for 5-10 mins

  • Scrape down the sides and blend again for another 10 minutes

  • The sides will now be softening, scrape them down again and blend for another 5-10 minutes

You will notice now that the nuts are becoming VERY HOT! be careful not to burn yourself. The speed of the blender will heat the nuts and when they become softer and oily they will become extremely hot. Allow to cool before blending if you feel the nuts are too hot

  • Once the nut butter has become smooth, allow to cool before pouring it into a clean sterile glass jar and enjoy within 6 weeks.

If you do make this then I hope you love it
