Chocolate Breakfast Plait

This is the easiest breakfast you can make thanks to the ready made puff pastry. We’ve used our homemade vegan Nutella to fill ours but please feel free to use a shop bought vegan chocolate spread if you don’t have time to make your own.


Ingredients

1 packed of pre-rolled ready made puff pastry (check it’s vegan)

1/4 jar of vegan chocolate spread

Method

  • Remove the pastry from the fridge 10 minutes before you wish to use it to allow it to become soft enough to use without splitting

  • Preheat the oven to 180C and line a baking tray with baking paper

  • Unwrap the pastry and spread the chocolate in the middle of the pastry ensuring you leave enough space at the sides to plait the pastry

  • Cut slits in the pasty from the chocolate spread to the edge of the pastry

  • Starting at the end nearest to you begin to fold each slit of pasty over the middle alternating each slit so you form a ‘plait’

There are many tutorials on YouTube if you need a visual

  • Brush the pastry with a little plant milk and bake for around 15-20 minutes or until the pastry has puffed up and is nice and golden

  • Allow to cool slightly before slicing and enjoying with your favourite morning cuppa.
